In 2020, the world will generate 50 times the amount of data as in 2011 and 75 times the number of information sources (IDC, 2011). Within this data are huge opportunities for human advancement. To turn opportunities into reality, people need the power of data at their fingertips. Tableau is a software program made to deliver exactly that.
Tableau is an interactive data visualization tool used to visualize big data and business intelligence. It can create a wide range of visuals to represent demonstrative data and showcase it in a way that can be easily understood without going through the actual facts. Even though it is a technical program, non-technical users can also easily create customized data dashboards.
Although competition is fierce, and the industry is growing, Tableau has been a leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for seven years in a row. Programmed to suit different types of situations and organizations, big or small, technical or non-technical, Tableau works for every type of company.
Punchh is using Tableau with 150+ customers (big restaurant chains) for both reporting and production. Reporting examples include liability reports and recurring data requests. Production examples include QBR reports, Punchh analytics dashboard, Punchh campaign analysis dashboard, and Punchh sentiment analysis dashboard.
At Punchh, our internal users include Product Managers, Customer Success Managers, and the Marketing team. Externally, our Punchh customers use Tableau to see their data.
It is recommended that users complete courses to become a pro in the program. There are two certification streams: Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server. The desktop certification courses help you design and create visual dashboards. The server certification is for database administrators, IT and BI professionals involved in the data layer of existing and ongoing reports. Three Punchh team members have earned these certifications. One team member is a Tableau Desktop Certified Associate and two others are Tableau Desktop Specialists.
